Growing up I saw my mother rely on my father financially, and how it led to her being unable to leave him despite him being extremely abusive towards her and her children. I swore I will never be like her.

I immigrated to this country (the USA) alone at age 20, and every dime I have I made it myself.

I am proud of this life I've built for myself.

Work is tough, especially when you are an immigrant with no green card and no connection, but when there is a will, there is a way.

Don't give your power away by relying on a man (or anyone).
