In this story, I talk to my friend and coach, Tara Brown. Growing up in Canada, Tara had a strained relationship with her strict, no-nonsense mother, and she was also mercilessly bullied in school.

Feeling isolated by peers and lacking emotional support at home, Tara suffered chronic depression and social anxiety throughout her childhood. The situation was so unbearable that at age 11, she attempted suicide for the first time.

Desperate for love and acceptance, she was easy prey for abusers and became a teenage mother. She went from abusive relationship to abusive relationship until one fateful day when she lost her kids.
