A tactic abusers often deploy is to shower potential victims with flattery to win trust.

If the target falls for the flattery instead of seeing it as a red flag, the abuser has a “in” to train the target into relying on them for approval and validation.

Abuse is a slippery slope, and it’s easiest to get out at the get-go. I wish more people are aware of the abuse tactics described in this article so fewer people fall into their trap.
