The teachings in the bible, for the most part, is solid. It's the churches and religious doctrines added on top that royally messed things up. Let's keep these so-called "religions" at the pure philosophy level, and we'd all be better for it. The teachings in the bible, by the Buddha, by Muhammad, by Stoic philosophers, by all the wise people now and before should all be viewed at the same level - judged by the merits of their teaching and nothing more.
No one is "more special" just because they proclaim to be the one and only God. Anyone who feels the need to shut up opposition by proclaiming that to question is sinful has already disqualified themselves as anyone worth listening to.
